SlÍ Nua debating club is a place for the growth and development of political ideas without the influence of party politics or ideological pressure groups
Politics in Ireland is largely reserved, through various mechanisms, for people who have a family connection to a party or an elected representative or get involved in student or workers unions. For most, the political world is strange and intimidating place where there is little outlet in the real world for discussion and the online space is dominated by trolls and keyboard warriors.
SlÍ Nua will give people, regardless of age, personal connections, social status or educational background a chance to get involved in the debate. It will encourage critical thinking and development of solutions.
Meetings and debates will be held online and in-person to suit the needs of the Membership
Enabling political debate without the labeling
The format for debate will include, discussion panels, team debates and individual debates so there will be something for everyone regardless of public speaking ability.
Through education, grassroots organizing, and public engagement, we empower citizens to reclaim their democracy—one voice at a time.
