Code of Conduct - Social Media Policy

1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to maintain the integrity, respectful environment, and non-partisan nature of Slí Nua by setting clear boundaries on members' use of social media in relation to club activities, discussions, and fellow members.

This policy applies to all current members, officers, and participants of the Slí Nua Political Debating Club,
3. Policy Guidelines
3.1. No Posting of Club Debates
Members may not post audio, video, summaries, or screenshots of club debates or discussions on social media platforms (e.g., X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, etc.) without explicit written consent from the executive committee and all involved parties.
3.2. No Quoting or Misrepresenting Members
Members may not quote or paraphrase what other members have said during debates or meetings on social media, whether for critique, praise, or satire, without their clear permission.
3.3. No Public Political Attacks or Debates Under Club Name
While individual political expression is encouraged outside the club, members must not engage in public political arguments or attacks using the club's name, branding, or reputation. Posts must not imply endorsement by the club or use club membership to bolster personal political opinions.
3.4. Respect for Privacy and Safety
Members must respect the privacy and safety of fellow participants. Doxxing, sharing of personal information, or online harassment of other members—directly or indirectly—is strictly prohibited.
3.5. Neutral Representation
Club officers and representatives must maintain a tone of neutrality on social media when speaking in an official capacity. Personal political views should not be expressed as club positions.
4. Enforcement
Violation of this policy may result in:
- A formal warning
- Temporary suspension from club activities
- Permanent
removal from the club, depending on the severity and frequency of the
offense
All enforcement actions will be at the discretion of the executive committee.
5. Final Notes
This policy is not intended to limit free speech, but to foster a respectful and intellectually honest environment where ideas can be exchanged without fear of misrepresentation or retaliation. Members are encouraged to engage publicly as individuals, but not as spokespeople for the club.
